Township funds HRG traffic studies after resident sign requests on Route 441 and two local roads

Township Engineer Mike Wood told the board on Oct. 6 that HRG prepared a proposal to perform a traffic study for requested signage on Route 441 at the location of a resident at 2232 River Road; the Route 441 study cost is $5,700. Wood said the study would determine whether signs such as “SLOW BLIND CURVE” and “BOAT CROSSING AHEAD” are warranted before sending recommendations to PennDOT for approval. The board approved the HRG proposal.
The board also approved an HRG proposal for traffic studies on Roundtop Road and Schoolhouse Road totaling $4,000. Manager David Blechertas said the township has budgeted funds to cover these studies; because the roads are PennDOT‑owned, any sign installation would require PennDOT approval and the township would be responsible for installation and maintenance if signs were approved.
Duane Brady noted there is an HOP for the driveway at 2232 River Road but not for three other driveways mentioned; the study and subsequent PennDOT review will address whether signage or pavement markings are appropriate.
