Londonderry Township approves $15,810 acoustic advisory contract for draft data-center ordinance

Chairman Ron Kopp called the Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors work session to order at 7 p.m. Oct. 15. During the manager’s report, Township Manager David Blechertas presented a proposal from ATCS, Inc. for acoustic advisory and technical support services related to the township’s draft data-center ordinance at a cost of $15,810.56.
Blechertas said the scope includes noise technical assistance, recommendations compiled into a written report for township officials and participation by ATCS at two public hearings to provide expert testimony and answer public questions. He also noted ATCS has over 20 years of experience and is locally based in Camp Hill.
Solicitor Jim Diamond told the board he had reviewed the contract and said the report would “stand up to legal challenges,” indicating no legal objections to engaging the consultant. The board discussed the services’ likely benefits for ordinance drafting and public hearings before Supervisor Bart Shellenhamer moved to approve the proposal. Supervisor Anna Dale seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The contract award directs staff to proceed with the ATCS engagement and to incorporate the consultant’s recommendations into the ordinance development and hearing process. The board did not set additional conditions or amendments at the time of approval.
Next steps: ATCS is expected to prepare the report and participate in two public hearings to support the township’s work on the draft data-center ordinance.
