Londonderry Township to replace Gingrich and Zion Road bridges; closures expected

Dan Long of HRG told the Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors on Oct. 6 that the Gingrich and Zion Road bridges require superstructure replacement because of erosion and similar structural issues. He said the two bridges have comparable existing conditions and that replacement will add safety features and retain clearance for farm equipment.
The board heard that each bridge is expected to be closed for roughly three months while work is underway and that HRG plans to sequence the projects with Gingrich Road remaining the first priority. Long said permitting and coordination will be required before work begins and that both bridge projects are projected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The presentation clarified timeline expectations and operational impacts for residents; no formal motion to award construction contracts was taken that night. The board did not vote on funding or contractor selection during the report, and staff said additional permitting and scheduling steps remain before construction starts.
