The Boca Raton Community Redevelopment Agency on Sept. 23 deferred a decision on landlord plans submitted by the Center for Arts and Innovation (TCAI) for a proposed downtown performing arts center, asking staff to explore hiring an independent consultant to review technical and financial issues and scheduling the item for the CRA’s Oct. 21 meeting.
Deputy City Manager Chrissy Gibson presented the landlord-plan approval process required by section 4 of the Pre-Construction Development Agreement (PCDA). Gibson told the board the landlord plans were submitted in April and that the landlord-plan approval portion of the agreement cannot exceed six months. She flagged several material changes from the original concept plans: the amphitheater would be demolished and reconfigured as a piazza rather than renovated, the main venue’s orientation has shifted, square footage has increased, and the proposed parking garage is now underground beneath the amphitheater parcel with an entrance on 5th Avenue.
