Bluff updates on candidate declarations and Bluff Water Works meeting

Town Manager Erin Nelson briefed the Bluff Town Council on candidate declarations and upcoming election logistics at the June 10 meeting.
Nelson said Joshua Ewing has filed a declaration for mayor; Spencer Wade, Gary Haws and LuAnne Hook have filed for town-council seats. Nelson noted bluff will not hold a primary; a write-in option remains open until Sept. 2 at 5:00 p.m. and any declared write-in candidate will go straight to the Nov. 4, 2025 general election ballot. She added Blanding will host a primary and Bluff, Blanding and Monticello will split election costs. The county is drafting an interlocal agreement to manage elections and Nelson recommended the council review any proposed county role before deciding whether to allow county management of Bluff’s local election tasks.
Mayor Leppanen also reminded residents that Bluff Water Works (BWW) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and encouraged residents to bring questions; Leppanen said BWW is developing a website.
What’s next: The council will monitor county proposals for election administration and staff will continue to accept candidate declarations and public inquiries about water services.
