Bluff council weighs fee waivers for community center after rental shortfall

Council members discussed multiple options to reduce barriers for nonprofit groups, including selectively waiving fees for 501(c)(3) organizations when they make presentations to the town, charging cleaning fees selectively, adopting a membership model to allow reduced rates for regular users, or increasing the cleaning fee and applying it universally. Council member Luanne Hook requested the issue be placed on the July 15 agenda for a vote on fee waivers for the BCC/FMK.
Collins also presented comparable rental rates from other venues and recommended the council consider a consistent policy that balances community access with cost recovery. No fee waivers were adopted at the session; staff was asked to return options and recommended policy language for the July 15 meeting.
