The Bluff Town Council on June 10 adopted an amended FY2025 budget, approved the FY2026 budget and certified the town’s property tax rate for fiscal 2026.
Mayor Ann K. Leppanen and councilmembers voted unanimously to approve the three resolutions: Resolution #87 (FY2025 amended budget), Resolution #88 (FY2026 certified tax rate) and Resolution #89 (FY2026 budget). Councilmember Britt Hornsby moved to adopt the FY2025 amendment and both the FY2026 tax rate and budget; Jennifer Davila seconded the motions and Leppanen, Linda Sosa, Hornsby, Luanne Hook and Davila voted in favor.
Why it matters: The certified tax rate will remain unchanged at 0.000543, which Leppanen said yields a projected $33,186 in property tax revenue for the town and requires the town to notify San Juan County and the state auditor. The council signed and executed the resolutions so the town can meet statutory notification and filing deadlines.
Supporting details: Mayor Leppanen noted the town had to report any tax-rate increase to San Juan County by June 8; because the rate did not increase, the town’s filing process is administrative. The council publicly thanked Town Manager Erin Nelson for preparing and updating the budgets in the months before adoption.
