Council schedules council briefing and public presentation on Cooperative Cultural Center and Bluff Community Center

The Town of Bluff will host a two‑step outreach process for the Cooperative Cultural Center (CCC) and the Bluff Community Center (BCC). Malia, speaking as project manager, proposed presenting architects’ drawings and infrastructure constraints first to council (proposed July 15) and then holding a public session after the planning‑and‑zoning meeting (proposed July 17 at 7 p.m.) with a short presentation and a follow‑up survey.

Malia said the town has unspent grant funds that can be reallocated toward infrastructure (windows, insulation, HVAC and other building ‘‘guts’’) and that public input will guide what functions should be prioritized in the CCC and how existing buildings might be reused. Council members emphasized that the presentation should be realistic about infrastructure limitations and should specifically invite input from senior‑center users who could be affected by any move.

Council agreed that presenting a council briefing before the public meeting would allow staff to refine options and avoid raising unrealistic expectations. Malia agreed to prepare a short PowerPoint of the architects’ drawings for council review, followed by a 30–60 minute public meeting and an online/paper survey to collect community priorities before finalizing grant reallocations.

Next steps: Malia will present to the council at the next meeting and arrange the public session; staff and councilors will collect feedback to feed back to the architects before final deadlines for grant and design inputs.
