Franklin County approves multiple sheriff’s‑office personnel actions including hires, transfer and promotion

At its Dec. 18 meeting the commission approved several sheriff’s‑office personnel actions: temporary and permanent corrections‑officer hires, a sergeant promotion, a lateral transfer to office clerk, an amended resignation date, and authorization to advertise a vacant corrections position.
The Franklin County Commission approved a series of personnel actions requested by Sheriff Shannon Oliver during the Dec. 18 meeting.
The board approved hiring Maddie Hairrell as a temporary corrections officer/dispatcher effective Nov. 30, 2023. It later approved hiring permanent corrections officers Lucas Stonecipher (effective Dec. 5) and Casey (name appears as 'Cater' in one form and 'Carter' in another) effective Dec. 4, 2023. The packet contains two spellings for that hire; the commission approved the hire as presented by the sheriff.
Sheriff Oliver also requested and the board approved a lateral transfer moving Corrections Officer/Dispatcher Amye Clay into a county office‑clerk position effective Dec. 11, 2023, and promoted Matthew Waldrep to Sergeant Correction/Dispatch effective Nov. 26, 2023. The commission approved an amendment to reflect the resignation and vacation usage for Sheriff's Office clerk Samuel Cosby and accepted the resignation of Corrections Officer/Dispatcher Rikki Tharp effective Nov. 11, 2023; the sheriff asked the commission to advertise Tharp’s vacancy and the board approved advertising the position.
All personnel motions carried unanimously among the commissioners present. The county will process hiring paperwork and update payroll records as required.
