Carroll County Board approves raffle licenses, Chapter 320 amendment, opioid grant disbursement and equipment purchases

At its March 5 meeting the Carroll County Board approved several routine business items intended to streamline operations and meet departmental needs.
The board approved raffle licenses for the American Cancer Society and for Mississippi Flyway Waterfowl USA. The board also approved an amendment to Chapter 320 (Raffles & Poker Runs) to give the chair authority to approve raffles and poker runs without bringing those requests to the full board; the change was explained as intended to address timing constraints for applicants.
The board released $4,000 from the county's opioid grant to the Probation Department to purchase drug-testing supplies; Chief Probation Managing Officer Steve Brown said the supplies should last approximately two years. County Engineer Sara Renkes and Office Manager Sirena Brinkmeier were authorized to place Carroll County's salt acquisition on the CMS web-based system, an IDOT requirement. The board also approved purchase of an asphalt hot box not to exceed $45,000.
Most of these items passed on motions recorded during the business portion of the agenda; roll-call votes were used where required.
