The Carroll County Board on March 5 approved key steps to move the Morrison Road reconstruction project into design. The board voted to accept an IDOT joint funding agreement that allocates $800,000 in state funds for design, passed a resolution appropriating $800,000 from the County Matching Fund plus an estimated additional $150,000 for work outside the design contract, and approved a design contract with Chastain and Associates, LLC for $798,528.77.
County Engineer Sara Renkes presented the items and explained the scope and funding. The IDOT joint funding agreement and the county appropriation passed by roll call with all present members voting aye. The design contract with Chastain and Associates was approved in a separate roll-call motion.
The appropriation includes an estimated $150,000 to cover work anticipated to be outside the formal design contract. The board recorded motions to move forward with design; the contracts and appropriation are the next procedural steps before detailed engineering and subsequent contracting for construction.
