Franklin County awards $778,435 contract to Midsouth Paving for resurfacing work

Franklin County commissioners unanimously approved awarding the FY2023 Rebuild Alabama resurfacing and traffic stripe contract to Midsouth Paving, Inc. on May 15.
County Engineer Jason Baggett told the commission that two bids were received and recommended acceptance of the low bid of $778,435.26 for Project No. RAAFCP‑2023(001) covering three sites: Hwy 77 (AL‑24 to Hwy 48), Hwy 124 (AL‑24 to AL‑24), and Ledbetter Road (Hwy 124 to Hwy 23). The formal bid tabulation and a Notice of Award were entered into the record.
On motion of Commissioner David Hester, seconded by Commissioner Jason Miller, the board voted unanimously to accept the engineer's recommendation. Baggett said the county will prepare contract documents and schedule a preconstruction meeting once the award is finalized.
The official bid tabulation in the record lists line items for wearing and binder layers, aggregate base, scrub seal, traffic stripe, temporary stripe, pavement markers and signs; Midsouth's total bid was $778,435.26.
