Separately, the board approved adding EMA to the Franklin County Sheriff's Gov App platform to send weather and disaster notifications. The initial setup for the Gov App is $7,780.50 and the vendor lists annual maintenance at $7,995; the commission said the maintenance cost will be split between the sheriff's office and EMA.
Commissioners described the steps as necessary to maintain the county's warning infrastructure and to coordinate messaging between EMA and the sheriff's office. The motions passed unanimously among commissioners present.
