Colby Law presented the Streets Department’s FY2027 draft budget to the council on March 4. He said encroachment-permit revenue will decline given completion of major infrastructure work associated with Google Fiber.
To respond, the city plans an aggressive road maintenance program with surface treatments including chip sealing and friction seal on streets such as 3100 North, 600 East and 2600 North (Main Street to 400 East). Law also noted that the snow-removal budget remains unchanged despite low spending in recent years to preserve readiness for a potentially severe winter.
Council members received the draft as informational; no final appropriations were adopted at the meeting.
