North Logan presents FY2027 sewer budget; staff report strategies to cut wastewater treatment costs

The North Logan City Council received a presentation on the Sewer Department’s FY2027 draft budget on March 4. Zac Root told the council that the sewer fund is an enterprise fund and must align spending with projected revenues, and that the primary cost pressure is payments to Logan City for wastewater treatment.
Root outlined operational strategies designed to reduce treatment costs, including slip-lining sewer pipes, sealing manholes and reducing groundwater infiltration into the sewer system. He said those improvements have already reduced the volume of wastewater sent to Logan and could save "tens of thousands of dollars annually." The council discussed the draft but did not adopt a final budget at this meeting.
