North Logan council unanimously approves funding support, easement authority and routine consent items

The North Logan City Council on March 4 unanimously adopted a resolution supporting a Community Project Funding request to U.S. Rep. Blake Moore and authorized Mayor Lyndsay Peterson to sign a related letter certifying the city’s ability to provide matching funds if federal money is awarded.
The council voted on the resolution after Mayor Lyndsay Peterson explained that Congressman Moore’s office requires formal municipal certification that matching funds will be available. Emily Schmidt moved to adopt the resolution; Mark Hancey seconded, and the motion passed with Buzzy Mullahkhel, Emily Schmidt, Mark Hancey and Larry Hepworth recorded as voting in favor.
The council also granted the mayor authority to negotiate and sign a property easement agreement for two parcels that would allow the city to install a transmission waterline toward Upper Beef Hollow Reservoir and a Bonneville Shoreline Trail segment using grant funding. Alan Luce described the proposal and the benefits: having infrastructure installed with grant support and reducing future developer costs. Mark Hancey moved the easement authorization; Larry Hepworth seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
On routine business the council approved consent items (the March 18 meeting minutes) on a motion by Buzzy Mullahkhel, seconded by Emily Schmidt; that motion also passed unanimously.
The meeting concluded after a brief closed session to discuss acquisition of real property and pending litigation; the council reconvened and adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
