Cheatham County approves ARP and school security funds, signs library and vendor agreements

Cheatham County’s commission on Dec. 15 approved a suite of budget amendments, vendor agreements and appointments as part of regular business.
Budget votes: The commission approved County General Fund amendments including American Rescue Plan Act funds of $216,975.67 allocated to public utility projects and other line items (Resolution 11). The commission also authorized a $108,634.58 transfer in the General Purpose School Fund for public school security equipment, funded from a Public School Security Grant (Resolution 12). A minor debt‑service adjustment of $150.02 was approved for the General Debt Service Fund (Resolution 13). All budget motions were approved by roll call.
Agreements and contracts: The commission authorized the mayor’s signature on several agreements: a $15,000 commitment from Cheatham County to the Town of Pegram for the new South Cheatham Library (Resolution 16); an asset protection agreement with Lee Company for jail mechanical maintenance (Resolution 17) — the Lee Company proposal included a one‑year asset protection maintenance program priced at $45,936.00/year and described preventive maintenance and replacement‑parts policy; and memoranda of understanding for Recovery Court services with Averhealth and for services with Heritage Health Solutions for the Sheriff’s Office (Resolutions 18 and 19). The meeting packet included contract attachments and scopes of service for each vendor.
Assets and surplus: The commission authorized surplus and disposal of county EMS items (two Mac computers) and approved surplus and trade of a 2016 Ford F‑350 ambulance (Resolutions 14 and 15); a Capital Improvements motion approved up to $5,696.90 for chairs and conference tables for new courtrooms (Resolution 23).
Appointments and other actions: The mayor’s reappointments to several boards (Water/Wastewater, Planning, 911) and a new appointment to the County Audit Committee were confirmed by voice vote (Resolution 20). The commission also recorded its approval of issuance of Nashville Board bonds (up to $650,000,000) where approximately $2,000,000 of proceeds will be used for improvements to VUMC facilities located in Cheatham County; commissioners adopted the required approval resolution (Resolution 21).
