At its Aug. 18 meeting Cheatham County commissioners approved a set of budget amendments and revenue revisions, and authorized the surplus and disposition of multiple county assets.
Finance Director Sandrine Batts presented Budget Committee recommendations covering Sheriff's Department transfers, jail equipment replacement, EMS supplies funded by a Chamber donation, and county-building repairs. The legislative body adopted the County General Fund amendments by roll call. For the General Purpose School Fund, the board approved state-funded teacher bonuses ($867,195) and a transfer to pay teachers in a behavior classroom ($486,000); the TISA (Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement) revenue line was revised to add $113,500 in on-behalf payments.
Commissioners also approved surplus declarations for Highway/Public Works equipment (e.g., a 1984 Clark Loader and multiple dump trucks), Sheriff's seized vehicles to be sold to the Drug Control Fund, and a nonfunctional jail copier to be disposed. The motions carried by roll-call votes (each recorded as 11 yes, 0 no, 1 absent). The Board asked staff to process dispositions and to coordinate with department leaders on asset sale proceeds and expected fund receipts.
