Cheatham County Legislative Body approves multiple school fund budget amendments

Commissioner David Anderson moved and Commissioner Bill Powers seconded the resolution to amend the General Purpose School Fund; the legislative body approved the motion. The resolution lists numerous reallocations across personnel, benefits, contracted services and equipment. Among the larger allocations are $550,000 for Special Education teachers, $500,000 for transportation bus drivers, $425,000 for maintenance-of-plant other equipment, $395,000 for special-education contracts with private agencies, and multiple line items for retirement, medical and bonus pay. Commissioner Calton Blacker moved and Commissioner Diana Pike Lovell seconded approval of amendments to the Central Cafeteria Fund. The cafeteria amendments include $218,805 for food supplies, $84,000 for food-service maintenance and repairs, $44,000 for clerical staffing and additional allocations for medical and dental benefits, uniforms and food-service equipment. That motion also passed by roll call vote 10 Yes, 0 No, 2 Absent.
Commissioner B.J. Hudspeth moved and Commissioner Bill Powers seconded the amendments to the Extended School Program Fund. Those changes include $20,000 listed as extended-care bonuses, $15,000 for extended-care medical, $15,000 recorded under trustee commission and other staff and operating allocations; the funding source is shown as unused budgeted funds. The legislative body approved that motion by roll call vote 10 Yes, 0 No, 2 Absent.
County Clerk Abby Short recorded the roll-call votes and certified the resolutions as duly passed and open to public inspection. The minutes note County Mayor Kerry McCarver attended and that Mike Breedlove joined the meeting at 6:02 p.m. Two commissioners, Walter Weakley and Ann Jarreau, are recorded absent for the session.
There were no recorded objections or debate in the minutes, and no additional public comment or amendments were recorded. With business concluded, Commissioner Calton Blacker moved and Commissioner David Anderson seconded to adjourn; the meeting ended at 6:04 p.m.
