Commission approves multiple budget amendments, including ARP funds and highway equipment purchase

Cheatham County approved a suite of budget amendments on Oct. 20 that move county and grant funds to cover operations, capital needs and community programs.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented transfers from County General Fund reserves to cover jail supplies and equipment ($40,188.43), building engineering ($15,000) and sheriff travel ($14,350). The commission accepted an American Rescue Plan Act transfer of $481,841.33 to be passed through for a public utilities project payable to East Montgomery Utility District. Separately, commissioners approved a $110,000 Highway Fund capital outlay to purchase a Kubota with attachments and an $8,600 opioid settlement contribution to Hustle Recovery, Inc. for Narcan and related items.
All listed amendments were approved by roll-call votes and are recorded in the minutes (Resolutions 6, 7, 8 and others). The minutes specify funding sources (various reserves, ARP grant revenue, highway fund balance and opioid settlement funds) and include recorded roll‑call tallies for each item.
Commissioners also approved transfers tied to Sycamore Square updates and VSO office expansion as part of the county’s capital improvements, subject to bid acceptance and contingent contract approval where noted.
