The City of Charleston Finance Committee on Feb. 17 approved Resolution 26‑21 authorizing the mayor or city manager to buy traffic‑marking paint from Allstate Coatings Company.
Mister Michaud, who presented the item, said the purchase will allow the city to obtain 36 barrels of yellow paint and 33 barrels of white paint to bring the traffic division’s inventory up to the roughly 45 barrels the department prefers to have on hand. "This is Allstate Coating, the company being the low bidder on the total amount," he said. He gave the total purchase price as $47,267.55.
The presenter told the committee bids were close on both per‑unit and total price but that Allstate was the lowest on both. The committee moved for approval and the chair called the voice vote; the committee adopted the resolution.
The purchase funds are routine operating procurement for traffic and transportation and parking operations; no additional funding questions were raised during the discussion. The committee moved on to the next agenda item after adoption.
