The Finance Committee on Jan. 20 approved bill 80-66 to place a continuance of the city's additional levy before voters at the May 12, 2026 primary. Mr. Michaud explained the current levy runs through fiscal year 2027 and that the proposed bill maintains the rate at 5.03% for fiscal years beginning July 2028 through 2031. He said the rate is below the 6.25% permitted under state code and that the draft identifies police, fire and parks and recreation as the revenue recipients.
Mr. Michaud said the continuance is estimated to raise approximately $5,000,000 annually based on current property values. A motion to approve placement on the ballot carried by voice vote.
