Granville Village council adopts routine ordinance updates and approves three resolutions

Resolution 2026-11: Council approved a resolution to expand the Tree and Landscape Commission membership from five to seven seats and discussed adjusting expiration dates to stagger terms; the resolution passed by voice vote, 7-0.
Resolution 2026-12: Council authorized the village manager to enter a contract with outside counsel to serve as law director and mayors court prosecuting attorney. The meeting packet listed a draft contract with Dinsmore & Shohl LLP and staff said the monthly fee includes a moderate increase; the council approved the resolution by voice vote.
Resolution 2026-13: Council adopted a resolution clarifying two pathways by which council may direct staff or the law director and reiterated the two-council-member rule to request drafted legislation. Staff explained that the change provides checks and balances to avoid unnecessary staff work; the resolution passed 7-0.
Other business: Council introduced Ordinance 03-2026, an amendment to the fiscal-year 2026 budget, and set a public hearing for Feb. 18. Members also moved to go into an executive session under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(3) for attorney-client conferences about pending disputes. No additional legislation was taken after the motion to enter executive session.
