The Monona County Board of Supervisors voted March 10, 2026, to adopt a revised residency requirement for county veterans assistance and to set a public hearing on the county’s FY2027 proposed property tax levy.
Brandon East, Monona County Veteran Affairs Director, presented the proposed change to the county’s residency policy. The revised policy states: "The Veteran must be a United States citizen and a resident of Monona County for a minimum of 30 days. Assistance is not available for Veterans living in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or other communal type residence." On a motion by Supervisor Bo Fox, seconded by Supervisor Vince Phillips, the board adopted the change with all three supervisors voting aye.
Separately, the board set March 23, 2026 at 7 p.m. for the public hearing on the FY2027 Proposed Tax Levy Notice and authorized Auditor Peggy A. Rolph to publish the notice; those motions were made and carried earlier in the meeting. The March 3, 2026 minutes were approved and claims were allowed as presented. The board also voted to move the March 24 meeting to March 25, 2026 and acknowledged receipt of NTG LLC-Tyson Goslar Facility #66757's Manure Management Annual update and the Monona County Sheriff’s report of fees collected for February 2026.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
