City plans $1.3 million resurfacing on Gibson, Liberty and She High; funding split with state program

Public works officials told the finance committee Feb. 18 that the city will resurface Gibson, Liberty and She High in a project estimated at about $1.3 million.
"This project is exactly what it states on there," said Charles Sasha, describing the work as a 3‑inch milling, 3‑inch overlay with new handicap ramps and street signage. Sasha said funding for the contract comes from an auto license fee and a roughly split contribution from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
Council members asked why nearby McGuffey was omitted; Sasha said McGuffey is part of a different project funded through Federal Highway/Eastgate and has already been awarded, and will begin when plants reopen. The Gibson/Liberty/She High work was pushed to spring to align with local matching funds and bidding schedules.
The committee discussed sequencing and funding sources but did not change the project scope during the meeting. Public works said the McGuffey contract had a different funding timeline, which is why it was not included in the $1.3 million package.
The committee advanced the ordinance to the full council for consideration.
