Public Works asks council for spring resurfacing input; staff sets bid and budget-review dates

The city’s deputy director of public works, Shashal, told council members on Feb. 4 that the department will advertise resurfacing bids on April 28 and asked council to review and return comments on a list of streets by March 20.
"March 20 is the first day of spring. . . all I'm asking for is suggestions, for your input based upon your constituents' requests," Shashal said, handing out packets with the streets left over from last year's paving list.
Separately, Kyle reported that he has finished draft budgets for several smaller departments and asked the council to meet next Wednesday to review those budgets so that larger department reviews can be scheduled in time to pass the municipal budget before the March 31 deadline.
Council members negotiated a 2 p.m. start time for the proposed Wednesday meeting to accommodate working members, with the intention of addressing the Ward 6 replacement process first and then moving to department budget reviews.
The resurfacing schedule and budget timeline now have near-term deadlines: council input on resurfacing by March 20, bid advertisement on April 28, and the target budget passage by March 31.
