Cloud County reports sales tax gain, sets benefit options and records payroll totals

County Clerk Shella Thoman briefed the Cloud County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 27 about benefits, sales tax receipts and payroll totals.
Thoman presented the 2026 health and dental insurance renewal and the minutes state that 2026 health and dental will be offered as individual options. The clerk also recorded that the county will move its short-term disability coverage to a carrier identified in the minutes as "Advanced." Floating holidays were set: Dec. 26, 2025 for 2025 and Jan. 2, 2026 for 2026.
Thoman reported sales tax received Oct. 24, 2025 totaled $95,729.37, compared with $92,032.65 the prior year. The board approved payroll expenses totaling $194,512.77; payroll deductions and benefits were listed at $232,894.68. The minutes include a line-item breakdown of payroll by fund: General Fund $96,162.53; Road & Bridge $54,411.40; Appraiser $7,074.29; County Health $21,658.16; Noxious Weed $1,516.24; Election $2,221.73; Solid Waste $11,468.42.
