Cloud County health department announces Community Baby Shower, trainings and notes COVID uptick

Tonya Sulanka of the Cloud County Health Department briefed commissioners on upcoming events, trainings and current public-health trends.
Sulanka said Health Department staff will attend the Home Visitor conference in Hays and the Maternal Health Disorders class in Clay Center. She announced a Community Baby Shower scheduled for Oct. 11 for caregivers and infants up to 3 months and said attendees can register by contacting the Health Department.
Sulanka reported a recent spike in COVID cases. She told the Board the Health Department will not conduct testing at the department but that home testing kits are available to the public at the Health Department. She also said staff are working on price changes related to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Family Planning (FP) grants.
No formal action was recorded on these items; they were presented as reports to the Board. Commissioners did not vote on Health Department policy changes during the session.
