Cloud County hears department reports, accepts two resignations and discusses inmate housing possibility

Solid Waste Director Mike Hake told the board he planned to speak with the city about solid waste operations and reported that use of belts is working well to cross the driveway. Highway/Weed Administrator Rod Michaud said crews will finish Camp Road with cold mix, will work on the Health Department driveway on Friday and plans to send an employee to drone training; Michaud also raised a CDL training reimbursement agreement and County Clerk Shella Thoman will work with the County Attorney on wording changes.
Health Department Administrator Tonya Sulanka reported an upcoming pneumonia booster clinic at Sunset Nursing Home and said Heart Choices will be vacating the Health Department basement in the coming months; she also discussed the facility generator. Sheriff Ken Davis provided an update on department operations and commissioners asked about the possibility of housing prisoners from other counties; the minutes record the inquiry but no decision or contract authorization was recorded.
The board recognized the resignation of Mason Ferron, Equipment Operator, effective July 11, 2025, and Genna Strait, MCH Coordinator, effective July 15, 2025. No interim assignments or replacements were announced in the minutes.
