Commission on Aging seeks 2026 funding and gains new board members after bylaws update

Representatives of the Cloud County Commission on Aging told commissioners on June 23 that Concordia senior centers are serving more meals since operations separated from the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, reported facility improvements under way, and requested both an operational mill for 2026 and appointment of new board members.
Richard Hubert, Althea Sicard, Done Menard and Chet Greenberg described increased service levels, building improvements and the need for a new steam table. The commission said it formed a committee to update its bylaws and formally requested the board appoint new members and budget one mill for operations in 2026; the county said it would consider those requests.
The board unanimously approved the Commission on Aging’s bylaw changes and then unanimously approved appointments of Nancy Reynolds, Carter Olson, Alice Copple and Chet Greenberg to the commission. The motions were made and seconded by commissioners and recorded as unanimous votes at the June 23 meeting.
The Commission on Aging representatives did not identify a specific dollar total tied to the requested mill during the meeting; any budget action would be considered in the county’s 2026 budget process.
