Cloud County approves fiscal housekeeping, tax-sale distributions and other routine business

At its May 27 meeting the Cloud County Board approved a small fund transfer to correct a payroll deficit, approved abatements, reviewed payroll totals, recognized a corrections officer resignation, and heard Treasurer JoDee LeDuc outline tax-sale distributions leaving $31,290.83 in excess funds to be held pending court order.
The Cloud County Board of Commissioners handled several fiscal and administrative items at its May 27 meeting, including a transfer to correct a payroll deficit, approval of abatements, payroll reviews, and the formal recognition of a resignation.
The board approved Transfer 2025-0527-1 to debit Field Services and credit Community Corrections Co - Payroll for $91.17 to remedy a negative balance in Fund 121 from a May 12 payroll transfer. Commissioners also approved abatements 2023-90 through 2023-94 resulting in a net change and refund of $1,134.92.
Treasurer JoDee LeDuc summarized distributions from the recently finalized tax sale, reporting the district court will issue payments as follows: $55,301.77 for delinquent taxes and interest; $20,894.20 reimbursement to the county for payment of costs; $609.00 to the register of deeds for deed filing; $750.00 guardian ad litem fee to M. Blake Cooper as required by statute; and $30,630.20 to Klenda Austerman LLC for fees and services. After those distributions, $31,290.83 remains in excess funds to be held and allocated upon proper motion and order from the court.
The meeting record also shows the board approved payroll expenses totaling $197,643.36 broken down by fund (General, Road & Bridge, Appraiser, County Health, Noxious Weed, Election, Solid Waste) and payroll deductions and benefits totaling $231,260.87. The board recognized the resignation of Chad Shockley as a corrections officer effective May 19, 2025.
Rod Michaud, Highway/Weed Administrator, briefed the board that crews will finish shoulder work that week and raised the possibility of installing a stop sign at 60th & Vine Roads for east–west traffic control. Commissioners concluded the session by approving the May 12, 2025 minutes and adjourning at 11:30 a.m.
