Cloud County commissioners approve personnel transfer, correct bid and clear routine expenditures

The Cloud County Board of Commissioners met May 19 in Concordia and unanimously approved several routine actions, including a personnel transfer, a bid correction and fund expenditures across county accounts.
The board approved transferring Paul McGuire from Corrections Officer in the Sheriff’s Department to Equipment Operator in the Highway Department, effective May 19, following a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple and a second from Commissioner Dannie Kearn. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
Commissioner Copple, seconded by Commissioner Kearn, also moved and the board approved updating the Glasco Locker Plant bid total from $53,987.19 to $55,004.19 to correct a mathematical error.
County Clerk Shella Thoman presented expense listings by fund that the board approved, including General Fund $111,901.56; Road & Bridge $487,412.15; Solid Waste $130,935.90; Appraisal $44,429.43; County Health $14,873.74; Noxious Weed $12,014.39; and other smaller funds. The minutes show abatements 2023-85 through 2023-89 were approved with a net change of ($241.92) and a refund of $867.27. The board approved the May 12, 2025 minutes and adjourned at 12:01 p.m.
The meeting included routine departmental reports (see related articles) and several procurement bids were presented for later consideration. The board also authorized short executive sessions for personnel matters related to the Health Department and Emergency Preparedness applicants.
