Under the personnel section at its July 23 meeting, the Summers County Board of Education approved the hiring of Kenneth Harshaw as assistant high school football coach for Summers County Comprehensive High School. The motion to approve Harshaw passed by a recorded vote of 4–0.
The board then considered and approved the superintendent’s remaining personnel recommendations — which included resignations, retirements, leaves of absence and employment actions for certified and service staff — by a 5–0 vote. Board members noted that vacancies listed as "none for names" are in the interview process.
The superintendent said that all personnel actions had been published according to policy prior to the meeting.
Next steps: human resources will process hire paperwork, and the superintendent will monitor fill rates for positions still in the interview process.
