The Summers County Board of Education voted July 23 to repost the career and technical education (CTE) electrical instructor position, seeking qualified applicants for the vacancy.
The superintendent reported outreach to the IBEW in Charleston, which identified potential retired electricians who might be interested in part-time or semi-retired teaching work. During the discussion board members indicated an estimated beginning pay in the approximately $40,000 range. The superintendent said once the job is posted he will contact union contacts to encourage applications.
Board members moved and approved the posting so the district could widen the recruiting pool. The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will repost the CTE electrical instructor position, then screen candidates and follow the usual hiring procedures.
