McCone County commissioners reorganize leadership and approve payroll, claims and routine business

The McCone County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Jan. 5, 2026, in Circle. Presiding Officer Lonny Jensen, Commissioner Ty Taylor and Commissioner Alan Stempel were present; the board opened with the pledge of allegiance and approved the meeting agenda by a 3-0 vote.
The board completed several routine actions across the session, approving minutes, officers’ reports, timesheets, payroll and county claims. Payroll actions included Voucher #6 (warrants #83642–#83648) for $11,510.83 and Voucher #1023 for automatic deposits totaling $114,054.68, for combined payroll of $125,565.51. Payroll Deduction Voucher #1024 (warrant #83649) to the Health Care Trust for $42,694.10 was also approved. County claims for December were approved and Voucher #1025 for $191,405.11 was signed.
The board approved several specific items by recorded motion. Commissioner Ty Taylor moved and Commissioner Lonny Jensen seconded approval of KLJ Runway Project Reimbursement request #4 for $2,917.04; the motion passed 3-0. The Bill Stordahl Encroachment Permit was conditionally approved on a 3-0 vote.
Commissioner Ty Taylor moved to appoint Commissioner Alan Stempel as Presiding Officer for 2026; Commissioner Lonny Jensen seconded the motion, which passed 3-0. First readings of resolutions to reorganize the board and set 2026 meeting days were held; second readings were scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026, and draft resolutions were placed on file.
The board signed Voucher #1022 for $25,000 for a law enforcement pickup. Supporting documents for payroll, vouchers and reports were placed on file in the Commissioners’ office.
