Council trims consultant payment, approves amended ordinance

Councilman Ray moved to amend ordinance item number 9 to reduce the consultant payment from $65,000 to $45,000, and the council approved the amendment on a 7–0 roll call. After suspending the rules to place the amended ordinance before the body, the council again voted 7–0 to pass the measure as amended.

The ordinance authorizes the Board of Control of the city of Youngstown to enter into an agreement with a consultant and to authorize payment at the revised amount. The amendment to strike the $65,000 figure and replace it with $45,000 was offered by Councilman Ray and seconded; the president called a roll and recorded seven yays for the amendment, then seven yays for final passage.

The action was procedural and specific to the payment amount in the contract; council did not debate the identity of the consultant in detail at the time of the votes. The council then moved on to other business.
