Levan council approves routine measures: parade budget, carpet cleaning, permits and PTIF signers

Levan Town Council used its Feb. 12 meeting to approve a handful of administrative items and hear updates on parks and community programs.
Budget and events: Council discussed the town’s July 4 celebration budget, which staff said is set at $12,000 in the current budget and includes fireworks (quoted at roughly $3,800), bounce houses and other costs. Staff said last year’s event remained under that figure after ticket sales, t-shirt and raffle proceeds and sponsorships were tallied.
Facility maintenance: The council unanimously approved a motion to have the town-hall carpet cleaned. A motion was made and seconded; the voice vote carried.
Permits and finance: The council approved a building-permit review for a new home (Keegan/Keaton Smith) after staff reported the planning commission and building inspector had signed off on setbacks and plan reviews. The council also approved two PTIF bank-authority resolutions to update authorized signers on town accounts; staff explained that signing access will change as treasurer transitions are completed.
Parks and grants: Planning and parks staff reported the ballfield backstop fencing is nearly complete and that engineers from Jones and DeMille will support preconstruction and grant administration for a proposed pickleball court. The council discussed siting options to avoid foul-ball conflict and noted the DNR community parks and recreation (CPR) grant cycle is open with an upcoming March deadline.
Claims and financial reports: The council approved minutes from its Jan. 8 regular meeting, claims and payroll comparison reports, and final cash receipts reports; motions passed by voice vote.
The council concluded with public reminders about green-dump rules (no hot ashes), and staff said they would publish reminders in the town newsletter and at public posting points.
