Fulton County adopts 2026 budget and keeps tax rate unchanged

Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 30 unanimously adopted the countyproposed 2026 budget and approved a tax levy resolution that maintains current tax rates with no increase for fiscal year 2026.

The budget was presented by Fiscal Administrator Sue Reed and Chief Financial Officer Mike Lamb; Reed told commissioners there had been no changes since the public advertisement. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to adopt the proposed 2026 budget "as presented"; the motion passed with all in favor.

Commissioners also approved routine financial items. A motion to approve accounts payable dated Dec. 30, 2025, passed unanimously; the total approved was $112,913.87, including $98,764.92 from the General Fund and $14,148.95 from Debt Service. The board approved the December 2025 pension report as presented by HR Administrator Mary Huston.

Separately, Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute Resolution 8 of 2025, the Tax Levy and Appropriation Resolution, which keeps county tax rates at current levels for 2026; the motion was approved unanimously.

Commissioners agreed to retain Keller Engineer, Inc. for fiscal year 2026 by approving an agreement; the board said Keller Engineer will be formally appointed at the Reorganizational Meeting on Jan. 6, 2026. Commissioners also approved Planning Commission meeting dates for fiscal year 2026 for advertisement in the Fulton County newspaper.

The board opened with a motion by Commissioner Wible to approve the Dec. 23, 2025 meeting minutes, which passed unanimously.
