The cultural arts specialist told the committee the department is revising timelines for artist programming and exhibitions and is exploring ways to build a more permanent gallery collection using the city purchasing budget.
The specialist summarized recent activities: a "paint your partner" workshop that drew eight participants, upcoming ink-painting workshop with local O'Fallon artist Annie Campbell on March 29, and gallery turnarounds planned for mid-May with a closing reception April 25 at the Bridal Civic Center. She also said the OTW (O'Fallon Theater Workspace) has repurposed gym space into theater branding and staff are planning productions and auditions for spring and summer seasons.
Regarding OTW ticketing, the specialist said their holiday production of "Scrooge" sold 1,370 tickets across the run, with three of six nights sold out. She said the committee will contribute eight production suggestions for the 2026 season and described a selection process that pairs committee suggestions with director recommendations.
The specialist presented a community-art proposal from a vendor that repurposes retired wind-turbine blades into benches and swings. She described two product options: a basic bench and a larger, paintable bench or vinyl-wrapped unit intended for artist decoration. The specialist said the pieces "don't need much upkeep" and noted differing price points; she offered to request more transparency from the vendor about sourcing and costs if the committee wants to pursue budgeting and placement in city parks.
Committee members reacted favorably to exploring the idea while asking questions about costs and sourcing. The meeting record shows no formal vote on procurement or design; staff were asked to follow up with the vendor for additional procurement details.
