The Appling County Board of Commissioners amended its May 8 minutes to record approval of a quitclaim deed transfer of county property on Oak Street to the City of Baxley.
Commissioner Randy Sellers moved to allow Chairman Leslie Burch to sign a quitclaim deed, prepared by County Attorney Tracy Brown, transferring the building occupied by Appling County Sheriff's Department investigators to the City of Baxley as negotiated in 2024 SPLOST discussions. Commissioner Jakharis Jones seconded the motion and the board approved it unanimously.
The amendment states the building will be renovated and used by the City Police Department. The minutes do not include the deed text, a closing date, or any sale price or compensation details; the clerk recorded the amendment to the minutes and the public record was updated to show the action.
