Appling County commissioners unanimously approved a series of recreation and events contracts at their May 8 meeting.
County Manager Reid Lovett presented a contract from Falcon Fireworks for a display planned June 28, 2025, at a cost of $15,385.00; the board approved the contract. Lovett said Falcon Fireworks honored the same price as in prior years.
For recreational facilities, Lovett reported fence damage from Hurricane Helene and presented two bids: Engineered Outdoor Products at $48,971.00 and T&T Fencing Company at $40,504.00. He recommended the lower bid and the board approved T&T Fencing Company's proposal.
Lovett also outlined a lighting project for the tennis and pickleball courts at Max Deen Park with materials and lights priced at $10,476.68; the county will perform installation in-house and the board approved the expenditure.
The minutes record unanimous votes for these items but do not give installation dates or a vendor schedule beyond the fireworks date. County staff will proceed with procurement and scheduling per the board's approvals.
