The Anderson Board of Public Safety on Feb. 23 approved a lower-cost lawn-care contract for the department’s training grounds, and the board also approved multiple sets of municipal bills and payroll.
A staff member presented two bids: Berners Lawn Care (about $2,400 per cut, $400 per weed-control spray and a $1,800 one-time cleanup) and Customer's Choice Lawn Care (about $800 per cut, $200 per spray, no one-time cleanup). After discussion, a board member moved to accept Customer's Choice Lawn Care for the training-grounds contract; the motion was seconded and the board approved the award.
The board reviewed department bills totaling $1,611,219.30 and noted $187,825.43 was higher than normal because the department purchased new vehicles, including three ProMaster/Ford Transit vans for the animal-control division. The board also approved a separate set of bills totaling $82,547.99. Payroll in the meeting record was listed as $1,340,845.88; the board moved and approved payroll.
Votes at a glance: - Motion to accept Customer's Choice Lawn Care for training-grounds maintenance: approved (motion and second recorded). - Motion to approve departmental bills ($1,611,219.30): approved (motion and second recorded). - Motion to approve bills ($82,547.99): approved (motion and second recorded). - Motion to approve payroll ($1,340,845.88): approved (motion and second recorded).
Why it matters: The contract award reduces recurring maintenance cost for the training grounds, and the bill approvals include vehicle purchases that affect the department’s fleet and near-term spending.
Staff said they would verify historical vendor paperwork and noncompete/conflict forms and present any corrections at the next meeting.
