The City Council interviewed several applicants for advisory boards on June 10 and said appointments will be made at the next council meeting.
One applicant (recorded in the transcript as "Jonathan and jeans," address stated) said he owns property in Boca Raton and applied under SP 102 (40% affordable housing) and emphasized experience in residential and commercial leasing. Council members asked whether he is engaged in for-profit affordable-housing development; the applicant said he is not.
Barry Krinsky, who identified himself as managing director at Citigroup Global Markets Inc., said he specializes in financing affordable rental housing and described common financing strategies that help projects proceed in the current interest-rate and supply-chain environment. "Financing, tax credits, not enough to make affordable deals typically pencil," Krinsky said, and noted programs such as housing trust funds, subordinate or soft financing and long-term ground leases can bridge gaps.
Julie Botel O'Tala Rico introduced herself as seeking reappointment to the Historic Preservation Board, said she has served about four years and highlighted preservation work in Pearl City and Old Floresta neighborhoods.
Council members said they will make appointments the following evening and that applicants do not need to attend to be considered; no formal votes were recorded during the interviews.
