Duplin County Schools board approves agenda, consent items and personnel actions after executive session

The Duplin County Schools Board of Education convened its June 3 business session and approved the evening's agenda by voice vote after a motion by Miss Edwards and a second by Mr. Keenan.

Later in the meeting the board approved a consent agenda that included routine items from the meeting packet; the consent package passed by voice vote after a motion and second. Chairman Cameron Davis then moved that the board enter executive session under general statutes to discuss personnel matters, to prevent disclosure of confidential student information, attorney-client privileged matters and to formulate plans related to emergency response and school-violence incidents. The motion was moved and seconded and the board went into executive session.

After returning to open session, the board considered personnel matters discussed in executive session. A motion to approve the personnel recommendations was made and seconded; the board approved the personnel actions by voice vote. The board did not present a superintendent's report because Dr. Busan was not present.

The meeting closed after the board reviewed information items and approved a motion to adjourn. No formal roll-call tallies were recorded on the record; actions were taken by voice vote as noted in the minutes.
