Later, a board member moved "to elect Mister Darren Tindle as superintendent for Duplin County Schools effective 11/06/2025." The motion was seconded, the board voted in favor by voice vote, and Chairman Davis announced the motion carried.
Board members applauded, and Darren Tindle—who had served as interim superintendent—thanked the board. "I appreciate the opportunity ... during the time as being interim, and I look forward to working with everybody to make this the best school system that there is that that does the best for all the children that we have," Tindle said.
No roll‑call vote or individual tally was recorded in the meeting transcript; motions were adopted by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The board also approved a multi‑item consent agenda earlier in the meeting and adjourned after routine closing items.
