The Aberdeen Town Board voted to accept a financial guarantee of $43,784.81 for sidewalks and street trees associated with the Telluride subdivision, Mayor Robert A. Farrell announced at the May 12 work session.
Assistant Planning Director Chad Hall told the board that D&L Engineering’s estimate for the work was $35,027.85 and that the Unified Development Ordinance requires a surety of 125% of the engineer’s estimate; the resulting guarantee amount is $43,784.81. The D&L Engineering letter in the record lists the estimate as 32 street trees at $251 each and 959 linear feet of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk at $28.15 per linear foot, totaling $35,027.85.
Public Works Director Joe Wood said the town’s preferred curb type for new construction is vertical curb rather than rolled curb, citing recurring parking over rolled curbs. Mayor Pro-tem Bryan Bowles moved to approve Resolution #25-08; Commissioner Teressa Beavers seconded. The motion was recorded in the minutes as "unanimously carried 5-0." The resolution states the surety may not be released until confirmation that the sidewalks and street trees are completed in full.
The resolution and the D&L Engineering estimate were included in the meeting record and adopted by the board. The resolution language specifies the surety is a certified check pledged to the Town of Aberdeen and that it will be held until all required improvements are completed.
