Commissioners report Chabok Road solar facility construction under way, three-month timeline estimated

At the Aug. 28, 2025 Energy Commission meeting, commissioners reported progress on the Chabok Road solar facility. Vice chair Chris Bandasian described seeing material on the ground and estimated roughly a three-month construction timeline before the town and contractor coordinate with Eversource to complete interconnection and "throw the switch."

Commission members said the timing will intersect with the town—udget season and that coordination with Eversource will be required after construction to complete the operational steps. Gene Walker noted the next steps include Eversource scheduling for final commissioning once the contractor completes work at the site. No formal vote or additional funding was requested during the update; commissioners celebrated the project—reakthrough and thanked past and present participants.
