The Aberdeen Town Board on Monday postponed all items on its agenda and continued a public hearing on a proposed zoning overlay after Mayor Robert A. Farrell cited unsafe driving conditions from a winter storm.
At the meeting called to order at 6 p.m. at the Robert N. Page Municipal Building, Mayor Farrell requested that all agenda items be continued to Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. Commissioner Bryan Bowles moved to continue the agenda; Mayor Pro-tem Tim Helms seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 4-0.
The board then opened the continued public hearing on Zoning Code Text Amendment ZA-25-07, which would apply the NC Highway 5 Priority Corridor Overlay to properties identified in UDO Text Amendment TA-25-02 (approved June 23, 2025). Commissioner Teressa Beavers moved to continue the public hearing to Feb. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the same location; Commissioner Bowles seconded. That motion also passed unanimously, 4-0.
Town Manager Paul Sabiston provided a brief update on the recent winter storm and its effects on town operations. Sabiston said garbage routes affected by the storm would be collected the following day and that regular routes scheduled for the next day would proceed on schedule.
After the scheduling and operational updates, Commissioner Bryan Bowles moved to adjourn the meeting; Commissioner Teressa Beavers seconded. The motion carried 4-0 and the meeting adjourned. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Robert N. Page Municipal Building.
