Staff explained the change is intended to avoid annual readoptions for small per diem adjustments by referencing the GSA schedule as the default source for per diem allowances and similar calculations, noting the town already follows an external source for mileage. During discussion board members noted that the example breakfast per diem would effectively move from $8 to $16 under current GSA rates and that mileage reimbursement cited in the meeting is 70¢ per mile.
A motion to adopt resolution 25-09 was made, seconded and carried on a voice vote.
Staff said the policy remains editable by the board and that any future updates could be made if GSA guidance changes.
