Central Utah Water Conservancy District presents tax-rate difference; average Duchesne household would pay about $3.41 more

According to the presentation, the average assessed household value in Duchesne County is $310,000. Under the certified rate of 0.000380 the estimated annual tax for that household would be $64.79; at the authorized rate of 0.0004 the estimate rises to $68.20 — a $3.41 increase per year. Shawcroft said the district also included capital replacement projections and information about unanticipated or emergency replacement projects in Duchesne-area water facilities.
Shawcroft told the commission the district will hold Truth in Taxation public hearings on Aug. 25 in Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. and Aug. 26 in Orem at 6:00 p.m., and that the board's final budget hearing is scheduled Aug. 27 at 1:00 p.m. The presentation also touched on Colorado River negotiations between upper- and lower-basin states as background context for district planning.
The commission listened to the presentation; no vote or formal action on CUWCD's rates was taken during the meeting. The district's report and the scheduled hearings are the next steps for public input and any final budget determinations.
